Yanomami Indians in Venezuela Hit by Malaria Deaths

An epidemic with deaths from malaria has claimed at least 50 lives in the Amazon rain forest.  A 5 day medical mission was recently completed with more details here

The Yanomami are one of the largest isolated indigenous groups in the Amazon, with a population estimated at roughly 30,000 on both sides of the VenezuelaBrazil border. They have maintained their language as well as traditions including face paint and wooden facial ornaments piercing their noses, cheeks and lips
